A rate card is a published list of what a creator charges, and it is worth less than it looks because it fixes a price before the usage rights are known.
The honest case for one is filtering: it keeps brands with no budget from spending a week of your time. That is real.
The case against is that the same three videos are worth one price organic for 30 days and several times that as paid ads in perpetuity, and a printed card cannot know which is being asked for. So a published package gets negotiated down from and never up to.
The middle ground is a floor rather than a menu. One line saying where packages start does the same filtering and leaves every real number still to be agreed. The rate calculator is for working out the real number once the brief arrives.
